The goal

The goal was to create an efficient, user-friendly cashier interface that speeds up product search, enhances workflow, and improves grid organization for smoother supermarket operations.

My role

As a Product Designer, I researched POS systems, defined a clear and intuitive structure, and optimized the interface to streamline the cashier’s workflow.

The challenge

The challenge was to visually differentiate actions, categories, products, and product groups clearly and intuitively for fast
user recognition.

The solution

The solution was a unified graphic language within brand guidelines, using distinct structures, icons, and backgrounds to differentiate each element clearly.

Research

I conducted research on leading POS systems, including Shopify, Square, and Lightspeed, to analyze how they structure their grids for optimal usability. The goal was to identify best practices that minimize cashier search time and enhance efficiency. By comparing different approaches, I gained insights into intuitive layouts, clear categorization, and effective visual hierarchies that help cashiers quickly locate products and perform actions with ease.
